October, 2008.- Viña San Pedro is very pleased to announce that, once again, the wine Castillo de Molina Sauvignon Blanc 2007 from Elqui Valley has reached very good results at Wine Spectator, one of the most important specialized magazines.
Confirming the consistent performance of the entire Castillo de Molina wine range over time, and San Pedro’s commitment to producing high quality wines, Castillo de Molina Sauvignon Blanc Elqui 2007 was distinguished with 88 points by the Wine Spectator Magazine (ranking which will be published in its 15th issue).
The judgement of James Molesworth, the magazine’s expert on Chilean wines, was: “Nervy, with lime and lemon verbena, white asparagus and sea salt notes that stay tangy through the deceptively rich finish. Very tasty”.
Castillo de Molina Sauvignon Blanc Elqui Valley is a notable representative of one of the most refreshing white varieties, and of the great potential Chilean emergent cool zones have for that vine. Launlast year, this innovative wine –also sealed with screw cap–, comes fromthe best vineyards that San Pedro counts with in the Elqui Valley, an exciting and northernmost winegrowing zone, gifted with an important Pacific Ocean’s influence which provides a cool climate, ideal for the slowmaturation of grapes. This wine has had an extraordinary performance at the most important wine competitions around the globe this year, acknowledgements which speak for themselves, such as:
o Trophy (Chilean Sauvignon Blanc under £ 10), Decanter World Wine Awards 2008
o Gold Medal, Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2008
o Gold Medal, Challenge International du Vin 2008
o Trophy White, Korea Wine Challenge 2008 (best in the competition)
o 92 points at the Chilean wine-guide "Descorchados" 2008, from renowned Chilean winewriter Patricio Tapia.
o 91 points at the Chilean wine-guide “Mujer y Vino” 2008, from renowned Chilean winewriter Ana María Barahona
The vintage 2007 is the second release of this Castillo de Molina's variety (the range includes up to 11 varieties!). The first version, harvest 2006, also caused great impact in critics as well as in awards, obtaining among others, a Silver Medal and a Best in Class recognition at the International Wine&Spirit Competition 2007. And the new release, vintage 2008, is following that same path, with 90 points at the Chilean wine-guide “Mujer y Vino 2009”, and again, 92 points at the “Descorchados 2009”. all news » |
